AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION
WHAT WE DO
Our Farm in Diepsloot focuses on the following:
Livestock; Egg-Laying Chicken for egg production; Bee hives for Honey production and Aquaponics Vegetation. We also offer an accredited training programme in animal and crop production and the business of agriculture and are adequately resourced in terms of facilities, human resources, and experience. 50 Previously Disadvantaged Individuals (PDI’s), predominately from Orange Farm and Diepsloot are trained in Agricultural Production over a 12 month period. The programme is divided into three components:
Urban Agriculture
We train 20 students in Orange Farm Township mainly in crop production with food security production as the primary objective.
Regenerative Agriculture
We focus on Small Livestock, Beekeeping, and Aquaponics (combination of conventional aquaculture with hydroponics in a symbiotic environment and will train 50 students in Diepsloot Township.
Agripreneurship
20 of the 50 candidates from Regenerative Agriculture will be trained in Agripreneurship and encouraged to start their own Agricultural business on completion of the course. The training, a majority of which is practical, broadly consists of:
